Within the “X Biennale of Art of Soncino. To Marco “, the DAV – Visual Arts Department of Soresina presents Over The Real – The Selection, a selection of the last four seasons of the famous international video art festival that will be screened from Sunday 25 August 2019 in the halls of the Department as an integral part of the external circuit of the Biennale. Designed and directed by Maurizio Marco Tozzi and Lino Strangis, assisted by a top-level curatorial network (Veronica D’Auria for CARMA – Rome; Alessandra Arnò for Visual Container – Milan; Gabriel Soucheyre for Videoformes – Clermont-Ferrand, France; Adonay Bermúdez – Spain) Over The Real presents from 2015 the most significant research lines emerged in recent years in the international audiovisual arts scene. With the sponsorship of the Municipality of Soresina, in collaboration with ASPM Energia per la Cultura and the international contemporary art magazine ARTEiN World, the event intends to mark the current state of the art by analyzing audiovisual research compositions, on a global level and in this present , characterized by an extreme accessibility and power of digital instruments. A story that began as a niche in the contemporary arts (videoart) that today has become an extremely evolved and complex phenomenon, as well as being remarkably accessible from an economic point of view – and therefore practicable even in completely “independent” contexts for production methods, artistic and intellectual intent. Over one hundred selected artists – representing 26 countries in the world (Italy, France, Norway, USA, Spain, Germany, Canada, Belgium, Mexico, Brazil, Japan, Holland, Argentina, China, South Korea, Thailand, Austria, Iran , Turkey, Portugal, Lithuania, Hungary, Israel, Greece, Switzerland, India) – who have contributed / are contributing to the evolution of the aesthetic and semantic abilities of these disciplines. Works with great interpretative, technological and productive differences that have their essential meeting point in the ideal and common denominator of the redefinition of visual language.
