Curatorial Statement
Nowadays the Internet might be playing the major part in our relationships. Let us just consider the way the social networks have changed our connecting to the others near and far. Have we started turning into our digital (re)presentations? Are faces and bodies not on the agenda anymore? Videoartists try to answer the question by investigating our external, physical self in all the emotional, social and factual performance and letting it circulate through the digital realm. Does such an intercross of the two dimensions provide the best balance of what we are now?

The VideoBabel Festival is a project with an international reach, founded in 2009 by Dr. Jorge Mora Fernández, Spain (www.drjorgemora.com), and based in the city of Cusco, Peru. It is a project focused upon the democratization, dissemination and promotion of audiovisual and digital culture in Peru and other regions of the world. More than 500 audiovisual works from different countries have participated in the three annual events held since 2010. In 2012 the festival attracted the participation of 252 videos. A total of 9 cash prizes were awarded by an international jury to Peruvian and foreign film makers in different categories.
Beginning with the 2013 event, the festival will be focused upon innovative expressive languages and include video art and experimental audiovisual production. While the competition is open to all those who wish to take part and is oriented towards artists in Peru and Latin America, a collaboration and exchange program is being developed with events and organizations that share our objectives in different regions around the world. The main goal of this program is, on the one hand, to provide a broader international platform for the diffusion of Peruvian and Latin American audiovisual production, and, on the other hand, to showcase in Peru the latest achievements and experiments to emerge from other parts of the world.

Visualcontainer Italian Videoart Platform is invited to present a special videoart selection as satellite event at PROYECTOR International videoart festival held in Madrid and directed by Mario Gutierrez Cru.
PROYECTOR13 will start with a cultural fest at OFF LIMITS (on November 21) with a video installation by Antonio Ortuño, the video performance of Elisa Arteta and presentation of International Festival and organization as: Visual Container, L’Oeil d’Oodaaq, and FONLAD.
At the end of the Festival, PROYECTOR 2013 will be presented in Portugal,Spain, Norway and in Italy c/o [.BOX] Videoart project space, Milan on 2014.

About PROYECTOR
In these very conflicting for all sectors, especially for the cultural sector, Institute of Artistic Creation [KREÆ] remains committed to disseminate, transmit and include in the daily viewers of Video Art. And it does so through this Festival involving and collaborate, this same illusion artists, cultural venues and international managers, with the same goal: the promotion of contemporary art, creativity and new means of expression.
The city of Madrid will become the capital of video art in Spain. PROYECTOR13 be presented from 21 to 30 November in Madrid, and will have to do with nine cultural spaces. The programming can be visited from the official opening day, November 21, but each space will have a special role in leading activities.
